March 8, 2007 To The Ends of The Earth…

Verse for the week: There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men though him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of the Light. John 1:6-8

Quote for the week: “The aim of the missionary is to do God’s will, not to be useful, not to win the heathen; he is useful and he does win the heathen, but that is not his aim. His aim is to do the will of his Lord.” Oswald Chambers

Other News:

I think it is easy to get lost in “my ministry”. So often I have a big plan of how I am going to reach people, or the things that “I” am going to accomplish for Christ. Other times I find myself feeling useless, and completely ineffective in “my ministry”. I find the ministry of John so inspiring. John knew that he was about THE ministry, not “his” ministry. He lost himself in his identity in Christ. John did not seek his own followers, but he pointed them to the Light. “I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.” As we pray for specific ministries this week, pray that we could have the wisdom of John, to point others directly to the source of Salvation.

"The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray." - Samuel Chadwick
