August 25, 2006 To The Ends of The Earth…

Verse for the week:
And when [Jesus] had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. And...these all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:9-12, 14

Other News:
I find it very interesting that the FIRST thing that the followers of Jesus did after He left earth was to get together and pray (see the Verse for the Week)! It seems that prayer was the focal point of Jesus' teachings in the 40 days He had with His followers after His resurrection. What a testimony to the importance of prayer! What a community of prayer!

As we continually seek to build a community of missional prayer and pray-ers through this list, you may occassionally be getting an encouraging email from another member of the list. These brothers and sisters have expressed interest in covering the entire list with prayer and encouragement so that EVERYONE (all 175+ of us!) on this list is being prayed for regularly! What this means is that you may be getting one extra email each month...hopefully this is ok with everyone. I am delighted that encouragement is on the heart of this prayer list and that there are people praying for the pray-ers! In fact, all list members are encouraged to pray for other members of the list. After all, we are a community, albeit an "email community." May we all "continue with one accord in prayer and supplication" - all to the glory of Jesus Christ!

Oh, and a warm welcome to all 1st time recipients of this prayer email! We are delighted to pray alongside you! Please remember that this is NOT a discussion group...so emails should not be exchanged across the list. Thanks for your understanding...and thanks most of all for praying!!!
