September 12, 2008 To the Ends of the Earth…

Verse for the week:
...I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalm 23:4b-5

Quote for the week:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. - Jesus

People Group of the week:
It may seem a bit odd or unorthodox, but let's pray for Osama bin-Laden, the Al-Qaeda, and terrorists all around the world. No doubt many of us remembered yesterday as 9/11. Let us use this as a reminder to pray.

Apostolic Missions Committee Member to pray for this week:
Jon and Julie Schmidgall (Oakville, IA)

Apostolic Elder to pray for this week:
Duane and Karen Farney (Croghan-Naumberg, NY)

Apostolic Christian Missionaries to pray for this week:
Abby Gerber (Les Cayes, Haiti)- Please pray for Abby that she would learn the language quickly and efficiently, that she would be continually assured of her calling, for her safety and for her as she has "left home, brothers, sisters, mother and father...for Jesus and the gospel (Mark 10:29)."

Other News:
Pray for your enemies...sometimes it's tough to do it with a pure and forgiving heart. However, God commands it. Aren't we glad that Ananias in Acts 9 reached out to his enemy Saul. If he hadn't, perhaps we wouldn't have Paul's letters today! God does not call us to do what is easy. He calls us to do what is right and in line with His perfect will. God has anointed us and sent us to reach out to "not so friendlies." He has also called us to pray for some of the greatest enemies in the world. Let's not refuse to do either.
