May 2, 2008 To The Ends of The Earth

Verse for the week:
Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God...make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. (Daniel 6:5-6,7b)

Other News:
As I read the verse of the week, I was convicted when I thought of being a person of prayer. The only thing the presidents and princes could find against Daniel was his devotion and communication to the Lord. The only way they could "stop" him was if they made prayer illegal. Are we men or women of prayer? Are we known for our faithful intercession before the throne of our God? If someone made it illegal to pray today, would we be affected? Let's continue to persevere in persistent petition to the living God!

"The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray." - Samuel Chadwick
